Commit: Project Management As Keeping a Promise

We want our actions to match what we say. We want to be consistent. We want to keep our promises and honor our commitments. But when we’re doing something complex like project management, we need to understand what that means. If we don’t, we do a bad job. We disappoint the project’s owners and users. And we make ourselves feel bad in the process. We need to understand how commitment and consistency work. Then we can deliver a project that’s valuable to its owners and its users, even if it isn’t what was initially promised.
