An Overview of Agile and Lean

  • Marco Antonio Carcano

摘要

Agile and Lean are frequently reduced to generic corporate terminology, but within DevOps and DevSecOps, they function as foundational frameworks for operational efficiency. This chapter focuses exclusively on the practical application of these methodologies to govern daily engineering workloads. Rather than choosing between them, practitioners must recognize that Agile and Lean address distinct operational requirements. While Agile enhances adaptability to meet shifting code and architectural requirements, Lean drives the systemic elimination of waste—directly targeting depleted time, misallocated budgets, and engineering burnout. The section begins with Agile, the primary framework driving modern delivery pipelines, before analyzing the broader infrastructural scope of Lean. This analysis delivers an empirical overview designed to align delivery processes with systems architecture, transforming operational constraints into predictable engineering workflows.
