The evolution of Historic (or Heritage) Building Information Modelling (HBIM) has revolutionized the architectural preservation industry, offering precision, collaboration, and storytelling capabilities. Emerging in the early 2000s as a specialized application of BIM, HBIM is tailored to the unique challenges of documenting, preserving, and managing historical buildings. As technology continues to advance, HBIM will play an even more critical role in safeguarding our architectural heritage for future generations, providing new methodologies to reconstruct and visualize lost structures and embed these reconstructions with rich layers of historical, cultural, and material data (Arsalan et al., 2025).
