As I write this first chapter, cyberspace is reeling from another massive data breach affecting Snowflake customers.1 Once again, we're confronted with familiar terms like compromised credentials, broken access controls, and missing multifactor authentication (MFA). Compromised credentials are the leading cause of data breaches today and, unfortunately, the hardest to detect. A staggering now involve identity-based techniques, and it takes an average of to contain such attacks.
