The Linux Shell (or List Status or List Summary) utility is a Linux shell command with many options. It is used to list metadata (information) about the files and directories present on disk. The ls command is often aliased to include some optional arguments. To use the unaliased version of ls, proceed “ls” at the Linux command prompt with the backslash character and you’ll see something like this:
