The third and final chapter of our Azure SQL automation journey will focus on automating tasks using Azure-native resources. The first chapter in this part focused on using the familiar SQL Agent tool to automate tasks in Azure SQL. While SQL Agent is a powerful tool, its design goes back multiple decades, so it does not integrate well with modern, cloud-native systems. In this chapter we will explore Azure-native automation services, some of which are specifically designed for SQL services and some automation services that are not targeted specifically at SQL workloads but designed and built for all of Azure.
