Key ethical concerns include data privacy, ownership, and the potential misuse of sensitive information collected through IoT devices deployed on farms. These concerns are heightened by the lack of robust security protocols and inconsistent regulatory oversight, which may expose farmers to surveillance or exploitation. In parallel, biotechnology especially the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) raises critical debates about environmental safety, genetic integrity, and the socio-economic impacts on small-scale farmers. Public perception plays a major role in shaping the acceptance of biotech crops, often driven by misinformation, distrust in corporate entities, and concerns about long-term health effects. The regulatory landscape is further complicated by global inconsistencies, with varying standards for safety, ethics, and implementation across regions. These disparities hinder the scalable and responsible deployment of emerging technologies in agriculture. Addressing these challenges requires inclusive governance, transparent communication, and flexible regulatory frameworks that evolve with technological advancements. Multistakeholder collaboration among scientists, policymakers, farmers, and ethicists is vital to ensure that agricultural innovation aligns with societal values, protects individual rights, and promotes sustainable development.
