In this chapter, we will cover an overview of Privileged Access Management (PAM) to ensure all readers are on the same page as we dive into this topic much more profoundly. We will define what a privileged account is and then discuss more advanced topics, such as just-in-time access and session management. Starting with an introduction to PAM will allow us to level-set with all readers to ensure that as we progress into more advanced topics, the basics are covered.
