Edmund Berkeley, the editor of Computers and Automation, certainly paid attention to what Neal Macdonald was stirring up in the editorial section of his magazine. He clearly sympathized and agreed with the larger ethical principles behind Macdonald's ideas. Holding computer scientists accountable for the work that they do was a banner that Berkeley would carry forth both within his magazine and into the broader world.
