At the heart of the cybersecurity crisis are the real victims: everyday Internet users and the global economy. While corporations, auditors, and vendors have profited from false security claims and ineffective mitigation solutions, the cost of this deception has been passed onto consumers through higher prices, increased fees, and uncontrolled data breaches. Despite the billions spent on mitigation strategies, firewalls, and authentication products, the burden of these failures falls squarely on the shoulders of those the system is supposed to protect: the users.
