Digital sculpting is a technique which lets you create a model as if you’re working with clay. Using the various brushes in Blender Sculpt mode, you can grab, pinch, and scrape a mesh to shape its silhouette while adding more geometry on the fly with Dyntopo (dynamic topology). To use a sculpted model in applications like games, however, that require high frame rates and deformation-based animations, you’ll have to recreate a lower-poly version of the same mesh with cleaner edge flows to closely approximate the shape of its high-res counterpart—we call this process retopology.
