摘要

Mulla Nasruddin was once called to a grand banquet. Seeing all the fine clothes and important people, he realized he was underdressed in his simple robe. No one paid him any attention. So, he went home, put on his best coat, and returned. This time, everyone greeted him warmly and invited him to sit at the head of the table. When the food was served, Nasruddin began to dip his coat sleeve into the soup, saying, “Eat, my coat, eat!” The host, puzzled, asked, “Mulla, what are you doing?” Nasruddin replied, “When I was here in my old robe, no one noticed me. But in this coat, I am an honored guest. It is my coat that is invited to this banquet, not me!”
