Strategies for Success (and Failure)

Successful implementation of security orchestration and automation requires careful planning. As with any significant project that could span the organization, prioritization is an essential factor in the success of a security automation initiative. Developing a solid business case can help security automation receive the necessary prioritization. Since security automation will require teams outside of security, the initiative must have appropriate priority throughout the organization. Achieving early wins and demonstrating a return on investment will help ensure the project retains prioritization and support. This chapter examines some strategies for a successful SOAR program (and some ways to fail).
