摘要

The CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 is legislation aimed at revitalizing the semiconductor industry in the United States through substantial federal investment to support semiconductor manufacturing companies. The United States produced close to 40% of the world’s semiconductor supply in the 1990s, gradually due to the increase in offshore manufacturing in recent years that 40% has slipped to just 12%. Taiwan-based (TSMC) produces more than 60% of the world’s supply of semiconductors and more than 90% of the most advanced chips as of 2023.
