The Role of the AI Handler

In this chapter, we will introduce the critical role of the AI handler. The AI handler is part data curator, part QA engineer, part business analyst, and mostly a business domain expert. While the issues discussed in this chapter revolve around quality issues, the important difference between initial testing in the build and deploy stages of your AI application and ongoing AI handling is that the handling is an ongoing audit and RLHF (reinforcement learning from human feedback) function. As AI applications mature, they have the capability to learn and evolve in ways that make them more valuable on day 100 than on day 10 of their lifespan. This continuous improvement cycle can only take place with proper ongoing handling. Without handling, not only will the application not successfully evolve, it could dramatically crash and burn, leaving legal and financial catastrophes in its wake.
