Introduction to ChatGPT

Before 2022, the idea that a computer could process and respond intelligently in natural language was still a theory. It is now a reality that caught the tech industry and the world by surprise. When ChatGPT was released, it became the fastest growing application ever in terms of number of active users (see Figure 1-2, Chapter 1 ). In this chapter, we will introduce ChatGPT, explore its features and functionality, and discuss prompting strategies that will serve as the foundation for its use throughout the rest of this book.
