Operating systems (OS) form the cornerstone of modern computing, serving as a crucial interface between hardware components and software applications. Essentially, an operating system manages system resources, facilitates communication between hardware and software, and provides users with a platform to interact with their devices. Throughout the evolution of computing, operating systems have undergone significant development, adapting to technological advancements, and changing user demands. From the early days of mainframe computers to the modern presence of smartphones and IoT devices, operating systems have played a pivotal role in shaping the digital landscape. Though there are various operating systems to choose from, each having its pros and cons, all fit to serve a unified purpose. That is to allow an individual to “speak” with a computer through peripherals such as keyboards and mice.
