Leveraging Artificial Intelligence
摘要
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a type of software automation that uses sophisticated algorithms to perform complex tasks that would normally require human intelligence. The emergence of technologies like ChatGPT from OpenAI and its ability to simulate human intelligence have sparked a widespread interest, opening a new dimension of what is possible with computers. In recent years, FileMaker has gained new capabilities that facilitate the integration of AI features in a database. In version 19, the Insert from URL script step (Chapter 25 , “Using Insert from URL”) gained Client for URLs (cURL) options to communicate with a wide variety of APIs, including AI systems like ChatGPT. That version also gained Core Machine Learning (CoreML) support, enabling developers to automate image and text related tasks (Chapter 37 ). In version 21 (2024), Claris introduced additional capabilities, including the ability to more easily link a database to an OpenAI account for use with some new AI related functions and script steps. Using these features, a database can use AI to generate, parse, process, or evaluate content in endless different ways. This chapter introduces the subject of artificial intelligence and how to integrate it into a database, exploring the following topics:
