An Architectural Design of Digital Twin Metaverse Cities

In this chapter, I will utilize metaverse digital twin concepts, emerging ICTs, smart city frameworks, and city functional indicators to develop an innovative architectural design for digital twin metaverse cities. This design integrates two key elements, the physical city and digital city, connected through a data-driven digital twinning process. The physical city covers tangible aspects and urban functions, utilizing IoTs for data collection. The digital city, on the other hand, comprises a data platform, service delivery modules, and governance structures. This chapter, drawing on my extensive ICT industry experience and a thorough literature review, aims to present a groundbreaking approach to smart city architecture, incorporating the metaverse continuum, the five-dimensional digital twin model, smart city indicators, and various ICTs discussed in Chapters 5 – 8 .
