Infrastructure Concepts

Although the basic infrastructure consisting of servers, routers, switches, and storage has remained intact to this day, the server infrastructure has been segmented into logical layers. This means added flexibility when it comes to infrastructure. These layers are discussed in the infrastructure models section of this chapter. With the creation of layers comes the division of responsibilities between the client's organization and the cloud service provider, or between the managed service provider and the cloud service provider. This relationship is examined under the shared responsibility model.
