Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

For about a century, writers and filmmakers have dreamed of the machines having their own mind and thoughts. It began with the invading aliens and more recently, I, Robot, featuring Will Smith, where android robots serve humans. One of the robots, Sonny, is able to think on its own, have emotions, and even dream. This 2004 movie was my first encounter with artificial intelligence that did not involve aliens. Twenty years on, this science fiction movie is becoming a reality. We are in a period where the difference between the imaginary and the real world in digital media is sometimes indecipherable. Our sense of technology has moved to a different dimension, from having developed technology that responds to all situations to a technology that can learn and improvise on its own. In some ways, it is chilling to think of a future where we are not in complete control, and the reality is that we are building and improving this technology, because the true path to achieving unparalleled productivity, top notch quality, and scales of economy is through artificial intelligence and machine learning.
