Logical Account Balance Models

 In this chapter, we will learn how to convert conceptual models into logical models; while conceptual models are designed for a senior audience, logical models are designed for a technical audience. The logical models created in this chapter are used as blueprints for the physical models in Chapter 7 , the trial balance semantic model, and Chapter 8 , a journal entry semantic model. We will also learn about aggregations; these summarizations of fact tables can improve query performance. Because aggregations exist for performance reasons, they are excluded from conceptual models and only form part of a logical data model design.
