Leveraging IOT in Supply Chain Sustainability: A Provenance Perspective

The global economy relies on logistics companies to help transfer commodities and goods worldwide. However, logistics firms are feeling the heat to cut costs and improve efficiency in light of the growing interest in sustainability. One strategy for accomplishing this goal is to streamline operations through the use of Internet of Things technologies and the rationalization of supply chains. The goal of supply chain rationalization is to reduce costs, maximize efficiency, and shorten the time for commodities to transit from production to consumption. Technology, data analytics, and careful preparation can help this process. An important part of this process can be played by IoT technology. From manufacture to delivery, data may be collected from the whole supply chain using IoT sensors and devices. By conducting an analysis of these data, it is possible to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks within the supply chain. In order to investigate the function that the Internet of Things plays and the impact that it has on supply chain management (SCM), this study conducts a comprehensive literature review. The article explores the definition of IoT, the key technological components that facilitate IoT, and the diverse procedures and applications of SCM. The existing literature is classified using many approaches, including the technique utilized, the industry it relates to, and the major emphasis on supply chain operations.
