Technical Debt As a Wicked Problem

In this chapter, we explore technical debt as a wicked problem driven by the social complexity of the systems we have created. We learn about wicked problems and tame problems, then look at an example wicked problem. We then look at the characteristics of wicked problems and show how each characteristic impacts our technical debt problem. We then look at how wicked problems combine with social complexity to produce fragmentation within organizations.
