Technical Debt As a Trade-Off Problem

In this chapter, we explore why we have such high levels of technical debt, which is bacause of how we make trade-off decisions. We use a heuristic, known as the affect heuristic. We look at how this heuristic drives our decision-making, plus why it leads to higher levels of technical debt than we would otherwise wish. We then examine techniques you can use to nudge your affect heuristic toward decisions that avoid technical debt.
