Preliminary Information Gathering

This chapter deals with gathering information in preparation for the problem understanding workshops. We begin with the corporate marshmallow test, which determines if your organization can delay gratification. Next, we look at whether we are firefighting our way into debt, plus if any anti-patterns are driving debt. We then work out how to go forward, our trade-offs, and understanding our system’s leverage points. We finish by looking at how to prepare individuals for change, plus how to introduce a simulation model.
