The Field Effect Transistor

In this chapter, we will look at the FET, or field effect transistor. This is an alternative semiconductor device to the BJT. We will study the makeup of the various FETS to understand how they work. Then we will carry out some experiments to determine the main operating characteristics of the different FETs and so learn how to use them. It is important to appreciate how these devices work at the semiconductor level, as it is only then that the engineer can appreciate why these devices work in the way they do.
