Infinite Cost Benefit

摘要

Doing well in business involves many things going well, but two core principles that drive profitability and/or return on investment are optimizing cost benefit and understanding the type of game you are in and playing accordingly. The offensive security solutions created by hackers specifically, and the cybersecurity industry as a whole, are no different. Interestingly, in cybersecurity, cost benefit is more a trifecta than a coupling of producer and consumer. In the business of hacking, cost benefit must be considered from the viewpoint of the cybersecurity solution producer, the cybersecurity solution consumer, and the actors attempting to compromise entities protected by such solutions. Further, that trifecta of participants in the game of cybersecurity needs to know whether they are playing an infinite or finite game and if the solutions at their disposal enable effective play.
