New Frontiers

In this chapter, we are going to touch on two emerging sectors of the cybersecurity industry that hacking businesses can exploit. The systems that these offerings would target in the respective areas are space systems and artificial intelligence (AI) systems. A space system is any system or system of systems that involves operating space-resident systems, henceforth referred to as space vehicles (SVs) as well as any interconnected terrestrial attack surface. An AI system is one that utilizes automated decisional computation to perform and/or learn to perform tasks. Both types of systems represent challenges and opportunities when operating a business around hacking and offensive cybersecurity.
