Effective Network Testing

Network penetration testing has existed in some form since the 1990s. It is the classic form of offensive security, and it is the area that most professional penetration testers are first introduced to through their education. For most penetration testers, network testing is their favorite testing domain for a few reasons. First, it is the most diverse form of pentesting. With web application testing, the tester evaluates an environment, which has been designed and developed by a relatively small number of engineers. With cloud testing, the management of the environment is always the same, only the configuration and size changes. But with network testing, the pentester encounters an ecosystem of applications both new and old working together and built on top of each other to result in something very unique.
