Dashboards and data visualization are cognitive tools that improve the “span of control” over business data. They help to visually identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, and guide toward effective decisions. With dashboards, scorecards, and other visualization tools now widely available to business users for analyzing their data, visual information design has become extremely important. Effective design leverages visual capabilities and is critical for clearly communicating key information to users and also for making supporting information easily accessible.
