Regional Sustainability and Coordination with Cycle Superhighways Initiative in the Capital Region of Denmark
摘要
The “Cycle Superhighways in Capital Region of Denmark” project started in 2009 and is planned to be completed by the end of 2045. The thematic sustainability areas the project focus on are ‘economic’, ‘environmental’, and ‘governance/management’. The project summary highlights that 30 municipalities and The Capital Region of Denmark have joined forces to create the cycle superhighways in this initiative. The project is considered a regional network of cycling infrastructure that allows long-distance commuters to commute by bicycle across municipal borders on cohesive and correlating routes. By the end of 2020, nine routes had been implemented when concluding the 5th Guangzhou Award, and the effects were already showing. By then, the evidence shows that on the cycle superhighways, there has been an average 23% increase in number of cyclists.
