Dynamic Pricing Strategies for Dual-Channel Supply Chain of Nearly Expired Foods

The dynamic pricing issue of nearly expired food in a dual-channel supply chain, taking into account the existence of strategic consumers in a demand-oriented market environment, is the main topic of this study. The ideal pricing methods for various circumstances are investigated and quantitatively examined by building a two-stage dynamic pricing model with decentralized and centralized decision-making for food goods in the full-price period and salvage period. The results demonstrate that, in the case of low accessibility of salvage products, the online and offline prices of the dual-channel products in the first period under centralized decision-making are higher than those under decentralized decision-making, but the online and offline prices of the salvage products are lower than those under decentralized decision-making, and the total profits of the supply chain are higher than those under decentralized decision-making, In the case of a higher percentage of myopic consumers, supply chain members as a whole tend to set higher prices because consumers have no choice but to buy more expensive products, and the supply chain achieves higher total profits. This reduces the double marginal effect and encourages consumers to buy more products during the full-price period.
