Natural Fiber Reinforced Vegetable Oil Composites

Natural fibres have attracted the attention of scientists, as fibres are widely used in all sectors such as automobile, sports, construction and many more sectors. Lower weight, low cost, environment friendly, and degradable are the main reasons to use natural fibres composite in many areas of the application. Green composite is necessary as the synthetic polymer presents significant challenges, including a shortage of organic minerals, environmental concerns, non-degradable, toxic nature, and high cost. This chapter presents an overview of bio-composite material where both constituent fibre and polymer developed from natural sources and renewable. The main constituents of green composites, such as natural fibres and bio-polymer, are listed out and discussed in detail. In addition, different methods such as surface treatments, hybridization, and filler materials are used to improve the performance of bio-composite materials. Conclusion and suggestions are pointed out in the last section.
