Analysis of Key Points in Designing the Contour Curve of the Pressing Cam of Offset Press

The pressing cam mechanism is an important component of an offset press, and the cam profile is crucial for achieving the follower's function. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the pressing cam mechanism and introduce the offset method and the envelope method. Using the mechanism module of Pro/E software, we establish models and compute and compare the follower's accelerated speed of two different pressing cam mechanisms. The results show that the dynamic performance of the cam mechanism with a cam profile designed using the envelope method is better than that of the cam mechanism with a cam profile designed using the offset method. These research results will help the corresponding factory improve the performance of the offset press they manufacture.
