A Fixed and Versatile Resource: Land Resources

This chapter introduces the use and allocation of land resources and analyses the use of land resources in China. Section 6.1 of the chapter describes the current status of land resource use and the problems to be solved, and proposes a methodology for studying land use in China. Section 6.2 introduces the land use situation in China, firstly describes the quantitative characteristics and spatial distribution of land use in China and its changes, and then puts forward the current problems. Section 6.3 introduces the economic analysis of land resource allocation, firstly giving the concept of land use resource allocation, and then proposing the methods of land use conversion and optimal land allocation. Section 6.4 introduces the ineffective land use and analyses the problem of ineffective land use which is common in industrialized countries. Section 6.5 presents policy remedies to improve the efficiency of land allocation. Section 6.6 constructs an evaluation system for land use indicators in China, and uses Malmquist index analysis to measure the indicators for agricultural and construction land in 31 provinces of China from 2006 to 2019, and analyses their spatial and temporal evolution characteristics. Section 6.7 summarizes the above.
