Design in the Era of Globalization

  • Cao Xiao’ou

摘要

Since reform and opening up, China has undergone rapid social and economic development. This process can be perceived as a massive “Westernization” of Chinese lifestyle, which has nonetheless contributed significantly to China’s modernization. Objectively speaking, this “imported” experience has helped China achieve a relatively high standard of living for its people. In just over 30 years, China has become the world’s second-largest economy. This is naturally gratifying, but the negative effects of the massive “Westernization” have become increasingly clear over time, prompting it to be a subject of significant concern among Chinese scholars.
