摘要

According to Cong and Elsheikha (2021), diphylobothrean tapeworms are one of the four important fish-borne parasitic zoonoses. Others are anisakid, intestinal heterophyid, and opisthorchid. Fish is a major source of protein in Asia. Raw, mildly cooked, and other unheated preparations are liked by certain communities. Raw or minimally cooked fish preparations, such as sashimi, sushi, ceviche, carpaccio, and fish tartare, are considered delicacies, which are served in Korean restaurants and have entered Western countries. Fish trade requires transportation on ice intact fish or fish without evisceration. Parasites thus enter regions otherwise free from these. The liking for exotic fish and travel contributes to the distribution of fish-borne parasites.
