Coenurosis

Coenurosis is a zoonotic cestode infection. It is a rare disease reported mainly in developing countries. It occurs in the sheep-raising areas of Europe, South Africa, South America, the USA, Canada, Russia, and Asian countries, including India (Varma and Malviya 1989). The larval stage, metacestode (coenurus), causes cerebral multilocular coenuri that are rarely intra-parenchymal. Mortality used to be high before the advent of modern neuroradiological techniques like computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and surgery.
