Giardiasis
摘要
Giardia lamblia (syn. Giardia intestinalis, Giardia duodenalis) is a flagellated unicellular pear-shaped eukaryotic cell 12 to 15 μm long and 5 to 9 μm wide. The trophozoites of G. lamblia have widely varying immunodominant cysteine-rich surface antigens. Possibly, this enables its survival in different intestinal environment. Adam (2001) reported the biology of G. lamblia and observed that molecular classification tools would enable the understanding of the host range and pathogenesis.
