摘要

Rhinosporidiosis is characterized by friable polyps or masses and a chronic granulomatous infection of mucosa, such as the tongue, oropharynx, nasopharynx, rectum, and external genital organs. The first reported case of rhinosporidiosis was in 1900 by Guillermo Seeber from Buenos Aires, who described a highly vascular nasal polyp. In 1923, Ashworth described the established nomenclature, Rhinosporidium seeberi, after describing its life cycle (Wesberry et al. 2023).
