Dermatomycosis is a superficial fungal infection with varying presentations depending upon site such as the hair, skin, and nails. The fungi require keratin for growth. Dermatophytosis is excluded. Piedra is a superficial infection of the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatophytosis is mycotic saprozoonosis, commonly known as ringworm.
