O’Nyong’Nyong Fever

The Acholi people of northwestern Uganda called ‘O’ ‘nyong-nyong’ to describe very painful weakening joints experienced in O’nyong’nyong fever. It is a mosquito-borne disease characterized by fever, headache, generalized joint pain, arthralgia and also maculopapular skin rash and lymph adenopathy endemic to sub-Saharan Africa.
