Trichuriasis

Trichuriasis is caused by Trichuris trichiura and is the third most common roundworm infection of humans and one of the seven most common neglected tropical diseases. There has been a reduction in the rate of prevalence in some countries. Once an important nematode infection among Koreans, its prevalence has been reduced to below 1.0% in the 1980s and currently almost nil (Youn 2009).
