Gnathostomiasis

This nematode has been reported from East Asia, especially Thailand and Japan, also from Korea, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, India, Australia, Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Peru. Gnathostomiasis is uncommon, though increasingly reported because of common international travel and the popularity of raw and undercooked/fish or meat preparations. The number of reports of autochthonous cases is increasing.
