Fish-Borne Nematodiasis

摘要

Globalization-linked increased travel and trade appears associated with increasing fish borne-nematodiasis. In humans, fish-borne nematodiasis occurs when raw or undercooked fish is eaten. The same may happen when eating the raw meat of mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles, which may act as intermediate or paratenic hosts in the life cycle of fish-borne nematodes. Cultural mixing, a change in eating habits, travel and global trade, the expansion of fishing areas, and cold transportation have led to changes in the epidemiology of fish-borne parasitic zoonoses. Incidence and geographic distribution are difficult to derive from the ‘travel-based’ study by Eiras et al. (2018) because the symptoms of food poisoning may appear almost immediately or later, even sometime after return. However, it is safe to state that these infections are emerging zoonotic helminthic diseases.
