Raillietina is a genus of parasitic tapeworms that have chicken, turkey, geese, and numerous other domestic and wild birds, as well as rats, as definitive hosts. In the year 1920, the genus was named in honour of a French veterinarian and helminthologist, Louis-Joseph Alcide Railliet. It has a worldwide distribution of traditional and free-ranging poultry.
