St. Louis Encephalitis

St. Louis encephalitis (SLE) is a severe neuroinvasive viral disease spread through bite of mosquitoes. Older adults are most commonly affected. Others infected do not show any apparent symptom. Deaths (5–30%) and long-term disability occur in rare cases. It is an important disease because there is no availability of vaccine and specific treatment.
