Performing
摘要
In the last empirical chapter, things are turned upside down. Instead to ground digital security in practice this chapter explores how digital security conflicts and conflates with practices aimed at producing data. It argues that when we leave behind the questions whether digital security is being done “good” or “right” and focus on the performative effects it has to attempt digital security, regardless of its outcome, much can be learned about how digital security intersects with other practices. The chapter takes the production of data in the two companies of this study as an example. The chapter compares between data production before and after data science was introduced, pointing to the infrastructural performing that digital security does in the process.
