Testing

Through the description of different testing practices, this chapter argues to understand different patterns that digital security is enacted in. Leaning on actor-network theory, digital security is performed as distinct regions, stable networks, and fluid compositions. The chapter concludes that fluid forms are not fully capable of capturing digital security as it involves moral judgment and precarity. The chapter suggests that digital security is also performed as a fragile pattern where strict assessment is constantly subverted (yet never fully overcome). The chapter ends with two implications of such a topological thinking in digital security.
